Looking to capture your story with true to life imagery that is timeless and authentic to you.
Still chasing light and telling stories that feel like home but now I'm FULL TIME!
Traveled to Crested Butte, CO for my first destination wedding and dreamed to travel for love even more.
Shot my first ever wedding and instantly knew that was the direction I would take my business in, capturing wedding days as a side gig.
Launched Emily Carr Photography and began capturing stories part time.
Picked up a camera for the first time on a trip to the Rockies and instantly fell in love
My focus is to create an experience that feels fun and natural from the very beginning. I'll have you laughing during portraits because there's no need to be that serious. I want you to be able to feel wholly present during your day and truly feel connected to your guests while trusting that I'm capturing every moment.
Hi, I’m Emily — a photographer inspired by connection, love, and light. I started this business to capture your memories in a way that feels authentic to you. I spend hours of time pouring love into my edits to create photos that you can feel. My hope is that my work can evoke emotion in the viewer, remembering the moments that occurred right before I clicked the shutter.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me cozied up with a fun fantasy book or sipping an iced latte in my favorite coffee shop while editing galleries.
I'm offering 1/2 off wedding packages when you cover my travel costs to these destinations in 2027:
Emily traveled with us to Crested Butte, Colorado to shoot our micro-wedding. I was fairly specific on the types of shots I was hoping for and Emily was amazing to collaborate with. I gave her an idea of my vision and she expounded on it and brought it to life. The photos turned out better than I ever imagined. She is prepared, knowledgeable, professional, and she's ready to do whatever is needed on your big day. She is the best of the best and I cannot recommend her enough!

"She captured the magic."
I could not have asked for a better experience. Emily was very organized, professional, and extremely easy to work with. She truly has a gift and she is so passionate about her work. She captured the magic and love of the day perfectly! I have and will continue to recommend Emily to anyone who needs a photographer.
Most couples reach out about 9-12 months before their date, especially if they’re planning for summer or fall. I only take on a limited number of weddings and elopements each year so I can give every couple my full attention, so the sooner you inquire, the better chance your date will be available.
Absolutely. Once you book, I’ll send a location list based on your vision and the type of scenery that feels most you. Whether you picture a a waterfront, a quiet forest clearing, or a stretch of open grass at sunset with golden light, I’ll help you find the spot that fits perfectly. I’ll also help you navigate accessibility and timing to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Your full gallery will be delivered within 4-6 weeks for weddings, but I always send a preview gallery within the first few days after your wedding or elopement — because I know how hard it is to wait. Every photo is hand-edited with care to reflect the warmth, tone, and emotion of your day, so you’ll receive a collection that truly feels like your story. For general sessions, galleries are returned within 3 weeks.
Yes! I’m based in Illinois but love to travel and photograph couples all over. Whether it’s a mountaintop in Colorado, a villa in Italy, or a tucked-away beach in Hawaii, I approach each destination with the same heart and intention. Travel is always quoted transparently, and I waive fees for certain dream locations that are already on my upcoming travel list.
Once you’re ready, you can submit an inquiry through my contact form and I’ll get back to you within 1–2 business days. From there, we’ll set up a quick call to get to know each other and talk through your vision. When you’re ready to move forward, I’ll send over your proposal, contract, and deposit to officially reserve your date. After that, we’ll dive right into the fun part — planning!
I want your experience to feel easy, comfortable and fun from the very beginning. From our first conversation to your final gallery delivery, my goal is to create an atmosphere where you can truly relax and be yourselves. I’ll guide you through location ideas, timelines, and little details that help everything flow naturally. I'll be your biggest cheerleader and always be sure to get your good side!
